The Island

Paros, with an area of about 134 sqkm, is situated in the center of the cyclydic islands. Close to it lies the smaller island Antiparos. Naxos can be reached by boat within an hour, Delos and Mykonos within three hours.
The capital ist Paros/Parikia with its picturesque old part of the town and the famous church Ekatontapiliani. Further places worth seeing are e.g. the little harbour Naoussa, the village Lefkes in the mountains, the old marble quarry- paros has been famous for its extraordinary white marble- and the butterfly valley Petaloudes.

Around the island, many small beaches and bays can be found. Though tourism is the main source of income, most towns were able to keep their original character.
